Modern Tiny House Quilt

I had such fun creating this modern house quilt. These colourful houses remind me of the tiny houses by the sea in the UK. This quilt was quite easy to make. In fact to piece the top of this quilt took approximately four hours. I am loving the white background as it makes the colours really pop. This is a quilt that I designed myself. I had always wanted to make modern house quilt but could not find a pattern that I particularly liked.

I finished my quilt by machine quilting edge to edge straight horizontal lines across the quilt. I love straight line quilting. It adds depth and texture.  I do find machine quilting quite relaxing and a beautiful way to spend some time with a quilt that brings me joy and reminds me of times by the sea.

I chose a binding fabric with bright colours to coincide with the bright colours on the houses. I chose a busy pattern for the binding top contrast the mainly solid colours I chose for the houses. I find the binding that you choose is like choosing the right frame for a piece of artwork.

For the backing of the quilt I chose some larger scraps of fabric in coinciding colours and did some improve piecing. I love the flow of choosing colours and piecing them together creating an entire new piece of art with fabric. This quilt is easy to make thus even if you are just stating out this is an easy quilt to make.

I love how the bright colours pop out on both the backing of the quilt as well as the quilt top. On a few of the blocks I fussy-cut little animals to sit inside the doorways of the houses. Every time I see the it makes me smile.

I have to say that I absolutley love this quilt and have really enjoyed making it. Quilts bring so much warmth into a home. This one was created with so much love.

Thank you for your interest in my quilts, and for popping by and scrolling though the many photos.

Dee xx
